| | | | My wife is having troubles with her Windows Vista on her laptop. It keeps
rebooting right after having loaded all the desktop items (all icons and so
on) withou any error messages.
Yesterday my wife clicked to shut down Windows and then closed the laptop.
Today when opening the laptop again it seemed like Windows did not shut down
yesterday. Instead it showed a message about configurating an update (saying
don't turn off the computer). But nothing happened, so my wife pressed some
keys (Enter and power etc.). Then the computer rebooted Windows Vista, but
now it keeps cycling when having loaded the desktop.
As far as I know I think that some kind of a system file has been damaged.
Is it possible to stop this cyckling rebooting of Windows Vista?
How to fix this problem permanent? Is it nessesary to make a system
recovery? In this case, how much will be lost? Does it format the HDD or does
it just replace system files?

Suggestion : go to Safe Mode and do a system restore selecting the date
which your wife knows there was NO problem. Use that date as restore
point. After that , go back to normal mode, and see what happens. If it
is successful, let me know. There might be some loose ends to take care
of.
