CPU - q9450
MB - DFI LP LT P35 T2R (flashed to latest bios)
RAM - mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
CPU fan/heatsink Tuniq Tower 120
Graphics Card - BFG 8600
Here is the problem that i'm running into. I just built the PC
recently, and XP works fine, loaded fine and am having no issues with
it. I got to dual boot vista and these are the steps i do:
Setup partition of 150gigs for vista to be installed on.
The files are copied with no errors
Files are expanded with with no errors
Features are installed with no errors
Installing updates - no errors
Completing installation - no errors.
The computer auto-restarts to load vista for the first time and it
appears to load, i get the cursor with the circle next to it, then BAM
BSOD.
Things i've tried:
- removed 2gigs of ram to install with only 2, no luck
- tried "load drivers" during the install to try to update
video/network/MB drivers, vista always says "can not load, get a updated
driver"
- tried a different video card
- ran the memory test and it all the ram has pased
- I have no done any overclocking to the PC
- tried switching the SATA from IDE to AHCI with no luck.
- tried disabling "force driver signature" after a failed load.
Things about the installation - I have a subscription to technet and
that is where i am getting my Vista from, yes it is fully licensed so
don't worry . It DOES have SP1 slipped streamed in however, it is
coming like that from MS so i don't know if that is a issue or not.
I was going to upload my NTBTLOG.TXT file and a mini dump, but both are
to large for the forums here =\
anyone have any advice/suggestions? I thought i was going to be
sneaky and save my self some time by setting up virtual PC under XP to
cut down on installation times, but then i remembered i can't run
vista64 under XP32
