| | | | Hi,
I have programs that i installed that do not have options in the program
inself to stop it starting when windows starts, and do not appear in
start/all programs/startup.
Is there an equivalent to tweak XP that works without problems that anyone
can recommend?
Or what other way is there to stop these programs starting at startup ??
Thanks very much

The program should be located in the system configuration utility called
msconfig. Click The Start button and then, in the search box, type
'msconfig' (without the quotes). When the UAC box appears press OK to
continue.
msconfig should now appear at the top of the search list. Highlight it and
press Enter. When msconfig opens, Click the startup tab and look down the
list for the program. Once you have found it remove the check mark from the
box on the left of the programs entry and then Click OK.
When you next restart msconfig will throw up a 'message' box telling you
that you have started your PC in troubleshooting mode. In this box, bottom
left, I think, you will see a box with a tick in. Remove this tick to
prevent this message appearing every time you boot your PC. You should now
find that the program you were having problems with doesn't start each time
you boot your PC.

In addition to "msconfig" Vista includes Windows Defender which includes
"Software Explorer" , it provides better identification of programs and
options.
