| InnoDisk looks to have come up with a solution for those looking for a little ReadyBoost action in Vista but not willing to give up a USB port for the pleasure, announcing a drive that bypasses the popular port and goes straight to the motherboard. Apparently available in 2GB and 4GB versions (with the former running only $15), the drives boast a transfer rate of 3MB/s for 512KB random read/write and 5MB/s for 4KB, according to Everything USB, easily exceeding Microsoft's minimum requirement for ReadyBoost use. Unfortunately, there's no word on availability 'round these parts, although we somehow doubt this'll be the last drive like this we'll see. Interesting Idea but it seems to take up the entire USB hookup!?!?

| I would think it would just be easier to just plug into external usb seeing as how most computers have what, 3 or 4, I have 7 . Nice concept though.

| I have see a few SD flash cards that are working for ReadyBoost as well. A few people at Newegg have reported a Trancend 150X card that works on a few laptops. Solves the problem for those of us who don't want a USB drive hanging out there to break off.
BTW, the MB/s look really slow for that one above. My Sandisc Micro transfers at 18 MB/s and it is not really a speed demon.
Here is a listing of compatible drives:
