Ipod won't sync to Itunes, Windows Vista related?

[font=Arial Black][b]I've tried asking questions on the Apple Ipod discussion forum but haven't gotten a response or at least one that helps. I just bought a HP Pavillion desktop that has Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit on it. I also have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit as well. The problem I'm having is my Ipod won't sync to Itunes. A lot of times the Ipod doesn't even show up in Itunes. It does show up in Computer as drive j. I've tried changing the drive name but it always goes back to j. My Ipod acts as if it keeps getting disconnected and then reconnecting. It doesn't do this on the laptop, it works perfectly in the laptop. I've looked under Universal Bus Controllers and the Ipod is listed as USB Mass Storage Device. I tried updating drivers and it says it's already current. I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and it still doesn't work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and nothing. I've repaired Itunes and still nothing. I've also tried different USB ports and nothing. I've restored the Ipod on the laptop and then tried it with the desktop and it has the same problems it did before. I know microsoft put out a download to fix these issues but when I researched online people said they didn't work. My Windows is up to date so I don't know what to do. Can anyone please help me? This is driving me crazy because the problems I'm having with the Ipod is on my brand new desktop that I just got a few days ago. [/b][/font]

changing the rip folder in media player 11

ive read all over the place that you can't change the rip folder in media player 11 but something has got me baffled. i just did a clean install of vista premium (which ive done many times) and came up with a problem ive never had before. i like to move all my media and documents off of the os drive. so i moved my music folder (which contains the rip folder) and now every time i open media player a new music folder is created in the original place with just a rip folder. not only that but it changes my start menu shortcut for music back also. i cant seem to stop it. i have to keep changing the location of my music folder and deleting the music folder. ive never had this happen before and it's stumped me.

any ideas to stop this?

I am very VERY confused. I have been thinking about purchasing Vista and so i get the "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor." after the scan it seems that "Your current video card will not support the Windows Aero™ user experience." i have read many posts saying that it wont support DX9 which is funny because on the box it says "DirectX 9.0 compatible" but anyways, It is a 128MB. I just want to know if it will work. Just a simple Yes or No will do but if No, is there anything i can do about it besides just getting a new one?

I finally got Windows Vista Home Premium stable. The only issue I have is that for some reason windows media player 11 will not play certain mp3 files. When I open the .mp3 in Gspot the codec is "MPEG-2 Layer 3"

Where can I download MPEG-2 Layer 3 codec for Vista Windows Media Player 11?

Trouble applying sounds to programs

I am having issues with changing sounds for program events. When I go to the control panel and open up the sounds item, and click the sounds tab I do not get any options for choosing programs. The only things that come up are sound scheme (which is set to windows default) and the sounds drop down at the very bottom for choosing which sound you would like to use. The programs box stays empty regardless of what I click. Just wondering if this may be a driver issue or maybe a recovery disk solve. Just for the heck of it I did a system restore and rolled back 1 week to when the program sounds were working and nothing happened.

I don't have any system specs with me besides it being a Dell Inspiron 1721 (since this isn't my machine i'm working on)

Any help resolving this problem would be fantastic

hi everyone, when i open media center on vista ultimate sometimes it opens ok, but now and then it opens with tearing of image and graphical lines, howerver sometimes when i open media center it's all ok i can go to anything watch tv etc... but now and then does glitches cm up again and i cn't see anything from the menu it's really annoying.

does any1 hv a solution to this??

Got a new pci-e video card

A while I had asked about getting a new pci-e video card for my hp, that already has a built in Nvidia 7100 card. I stopped by a Staples today and picked up an Diamond ATI HD2400 pci-e card. Does a card vrs. a built in video adapater make a difference? Well for me it certainly did, and thanks to whomever responded to my video request. The system is much speedier now and the graphics or more robust than before. So, it certainly was a good idea to do it.

Though oddly enough the video card I first chose and returned said I needed a 300 plus watt power supply to run it, which I sure do not have. So I guess I learned something about what you need to look for in buying video cards these days.

Speakers and Headphones connected and work, but can't get no sound from both at the same time

Okay I'm running Windows Vista 32bit and I have Gateway GT5464 Tower. Now I have my Computer Speakers connected to the back and my headphones connected to front jack. Now they both work fine but I have to either disable one or the other to get it working. How come I can't get both my headphones and speakers working at the same time.

Im currently operating on a Dell Dimension with Vista Home Premium on a multiple account system. Soon after I installed WarCraftIII, the screen started changing to a whiter contrast. After about 20 seconds of being logged in, the whole desktop suddenly lightens in contrast, and all my photos become messed up. This is a particular problem becuase my sister uses a picutre editor frequently, and cant adjust her photos correctly. I insinuated that either re-setting the monitor settings or uninstalling WarCraft would fix the problem, but the problem still remains.

Is this a video card driver problem, or do I have to get a driver update or something?

Media Player Classic / Winamp problems

My screen saver comes on while I'm watching a video.
I can't figure out why.

Looking for a good media player that can resize 4:3 to 16:9 while watching
Media Player Classic & VLC Media Player seem to work well for that. But I don't like how you can't move/delete multiple items in the play list.

I used to use Winamp and it always worked perfectly for everything.
Since I switched to vista, when I use Winamp on my secondary monitor the video runs very choppy. That's when I started trying other players.

Anyone have suggestions?

Can't launch Vista speech recognition wizard.

Although I knew about the speech recognition feature in Vista Business I never wanted to try it until I accidentally came across a demo video of speech recognition in Vista. It seems it could save a lot of time, especially for those who work on a lot of papers and reports.

I tried to launch the speech recognition feature but an error window popped up saying the wizard could not be launched. It asked me to check if my audio hardware is working fine and if it is configured properly. I checked all my settings for audio but everything seems normal. The drivers for the microphone are installed and I can even record through the inbuilt microphone. What could I be missing?

Note: There was a similar post on this forum where a user experiencing the same problem created another admin account and got rid of the problem. I do not want to create another account just for voice recogntion to work and also, it doesn't solve the actual problem.

Sound Recording panel frozen

Can anyone help me please? I'm trying to use Dragon Natrually Speaking on Vista, but when I try to select the USB microphone in the control panel/ sound panel/ recording panel. The panel is all dulled out and freezes, which I can't get rid off until the system is restarted? does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong and what I can do to resolve this problem? much appreciated!

I Upgraded from XP to Vista ultimate, and all of a sudden my sound doesnt work. when i click on the sound icon on the bottom right bar, it says no audio devices installed( i even right clicked and checked off the boxes), even though both my earphones are plugged in, and my speakers are plugged in. Hi, windows sound recorder does't open and isteada pop up message comes up:

Windows sound recourder is not istalled properly.RunREGSVR32 WavDest.dll.

When I tried to run REGSVR32 WavDest.dll I got an error 0x80070005

[color="#2E8B57"][b]just set up my dual monitor system and it working fine. 19" HP lcd is my main and a 37" LCD tv is secondary in the lobby of my office. i can get media center up on the 2nd monitor and playing whatever but the mouse cursor stays with that monitor with mc maximized, minimized i can go back and forth. same thing happen in picture viewer while in a slideshow. i want to show pics or video on the 2nd monitor while working on the first is this possible?[/[/b]color]

Thanks for reading this post. I have a little problem, after installing Vista SP1, a message box appeared and said: "No audio Device", "No Wireless device" or something like that, I checked the Device Manager and those devices were disabled, I enabled them. I can listen to music in my laptop, however when I go to YouTube for example, I can´t listen to the video sounds.
I have the lastest Flash... And I don't know what to do..

I have a problem with this graphic card, when I run a game with better graphic details. My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. Problem with Sound on Vista x86, Funny Squeaking sound thru speakers

Hi,

I'm Having a problem with the sound on my laptop. The laptop is custom built but I know that it uses a Mitac 8252D chasis and the sound chip is Realtek HD Audio (ALC 883). My speakers/headphones produce small squeaking sounds and some static. I think the problem is driver related. When using the R1.60 Drivers (supplied with my laptop) I get the squeaking but very good sound quality. When using newer drivers like R1.75 or R1.88 (Newest) the squeaking disappears but I get very dull sound. Some drivers like R1.87 just make the sound really funny (high pitched). The Vista inbuilt driver also makes it high pitched.

More info:
-Vista Home Premium x86
-Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2Ghz
-Nvidia 8600M GS

The laptop doesnt squeak when booting up.

Any ideas? All help Appreciated.

why does MEDIA PLAYER stutter at the start and end of every song/video

Everytime I load an mp3 or use media player to play a video file at the start and end I always get a stutter that makes the song unaudiable and the video unwatchable... it only lasts a few secounds but is very noticable.

Vista Home Premium and itunes

I just got a dell inspiron 530 with vista home premium in it and all is great except when I play my itunes music part way through almost every song it sounds like some "slowed down the record player" for about 2-5 seconds and then the song plays fine. I tried reinstalling itunes and reinstalling my music just incase something got screwed up during the download and the same thing happens. I contacted dell and they tried a few things, but nothing helps. I running the lastest version of itunes 7.6. Anyone else had this problem and if so please do tell how did you fix it or does anyone have any ideas what might be causing it. All my music ran fine in my old computer running xp.

Amazing Sound through Vista PC but trouble with network streaming

I am using Media Monkey (a very good light music player) to play my music through Creative 5.1 PC speakers and Creative Audigy 2.

When I change speaker/sound configuration 'advanced' properties to share music by default at 192Khz 24bit, my PC plays AMAZING sounding music. 'Out of this world' good to my ears in fact, so I don't want to lower the setting.

Unfortunately, streaming to my Vista Media Extender, via 54Mbps wireless network, transmits DVD quality sound very well, but not 192Khz, 24 bit.

Since changing the settings to share at 192Khz 24 bit, my PC music sounds much better, but the media extender now stutters with video.

What can I do besides upgrading my network to 'pre-n' /wired please? There must be some way to set 192Khz for PC use, and just 48Khz 16 bit for streaming Vista Media Center?

P.S. Just to confirm, I'd like to play 24 bit 192Khz sound on the PC music program e.g. Media Monkey / Windows Media Player (or whatever can force 24 bit playback from the soundcard or something...), but only 16 bit 48Khz when streaming to Vista Media Center extender.

I have a new computer that came with Vista Home Premium. Aero works wonderful, however, I do have one piece of software that shuts down Aero when it starts. The software is GeoVision (A surveillance program that utilizes cameras). It is something I need to have running all the time.

Is there any way possible I can "force" Aero to run with this software? I think it is possible because one time when I rebooted, they both did work. Although that was the only time they both worked together.

Any help, or to be pointed in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Oh, I did contact GeoVision and they were of no help. I asked if their software was compatible with Aero and they couldn't understand why i wanted to do that (groan).

Have no clue whether this is a video card issue, an Nvidia GEForce 8400M GT; an issue with the laptop itself; or the fact that it has Vista (I'm leaning heavily toward this one). What occurs is when I try to play a video off any site; be it youtube, Yahoo, TMZ, etc. it is badly pixelated. Looks like my cable tv does when the signal is weak. I have tried ripping the video to the hard drive and that does not help. It occurs no matter the player; vlc, Flash, Windows Media Player etc. It is most obvious when trying full screen mode but you can see it in a normal screen as well. My pc at work with XP and on board video works fine; thus my leaning toward a Vista issue.

I have the above mentioned video card, 3gb of ram, core 2 duo 2.0 processor.

Any thoughts?

Vista no longer plays DVD

Just upgraded from a 7300se to a 8600gts, and now I can't play DVDs. I've changed from a vga to a dvi connection, so I don't know if HDCP has kicked in?

Whenever I try to play a DVD I get an error message "There is a problem with copy protection between your graphics card and computer" or something like that...

VLC plays DVDs, but nothing that uses the Vista decoder (or any other decoder pack I try to install).

Help?

Audio 'blip'

I have a problem with something to do with my audio i think.

I have a realtek AC'97. And after downloading the driver from the realtek site, due to windows not knowing what it was (!!!) i get what sounds like a power blip interference at the start and end of the sound.

When i use explorer, for instance, when the page changes, there is a small click that sounds. But on my pc i get a spike through the speakers, then the sound, and then another spike as the sounds finishes.

Any ideas guys??

I have the option to record via line in etc, but I would like to record a streaming sound clip, on my old sound blaster on my old comp I had the option of "record what you here"

does anyone know of a way of doing this with the realtek, by buying or downloading a program that would work on vista and the realtek card.

Hello everyone. I just purchased a New computer and am getting really annoyed with the fact that I can't adjust the Bass or Treble with my Sound Driver. I am not a techno person I am a noob/regular user I guess...
