Notifier Sound & Volume Bar

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, and need help. I set up a sound for my mail notifier in Yahoo Messenger and Control Panel, Sound. It used to work, but lately they keep disappearing, and have had no sound for a couple of weeks. Also, the volume bar that goes across the screen as you increase or decrease volume is gone. Don't remember how to reset it. Can anyone help? Thank you.

hi all, ive got a problem sending business emails ie i wanted to book a caravan online but it came back asking who my server was & what is my pop3 etc im fairly new to computer so i dont know what any of this means, can any one give me an idiots guide of how to set it all up so i can send this type of email

i program, VB.net HTML PHP CSS MYSql and now c++.net
i have run vista for a year now with too many problems to list :P

i also run a website on a windows 2003 server, wich is reinstalling as i write, because the HDD failed :(

i joined because i have a problem i just can't find the answer to.

Hey guys!

been lurking around a few sites for the last few days...finally decided to register now that im done tweaking my computer. Pretty excited that it runs better than new.. anyways.

heres a screen shot takin immediately after boot up. you can see the system is stabilized and look at what its running :D:D:D 3 days ago it was constantly at 50% ram, and cpu, and the network was CONSTANTLY connected. with over 145 processes running.

much better now i think :) now it boots SO fast. that the desktop and all my startup programs are COMPLETELY loaded, before the network card has even connected to the internet!

Logon process has failed to create the security dialog

Hi,

Last week my computer wouldn't run more than 1 application at a time. I would get a frozen screen (mouse would move but was totally non-responsive), then a blue screen then a "logon process has failed to create the security dialog" error. I click OK and return to a non-responsive computer.

After reading many of the posts from 2008 regarding my "logon process" error, I disabled my Windows Defender. That seemed to do the trick until I tried to open PowerPoint. Every time I try to open PPT, it won't load -I get a blue screen for the PowerPoint program and nothing loads, everything freezes, etc.

I uninstalled and reinstalled my Office 2007 files and still nothing. I even followed some directions regarding a "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" and that didn't work.

I'm not at all computer literate so any responses will need to be pretty Step-by-Step...sorry.

Just got into setting up a little private home network a few months ago so I can access my Internet connection from almost anywhere in the apartment building I live in. The signal disappears once I hit the 5th floor even though I'm on the 7th floor & it's not even 70 feet up OR down, but that's no real big deal although I'd like to find a way to be able to connect to my network from the community room on the 1st floor someday, but even that is easily correctable now (Especially now with the creation of mobile wifi interface devices).

Anyways, I live in Denver, CO & am into all kinds of things.

Just wanted to post a little intro. :D

I registered for Vista Forums and can log in. When I try a search in the Documents and Files forum I get the message, "You don't have the neccessary permissions to access the requested page. It's likely the forum administrator has restricted access to this feature."

I assume this should not be the case. I would very much like to make use of these forums.

Hello, I'm Jai -- I'm new here. If I say so myself, I'm an expert on computers. I can't code (I used to know HTML and a bit of VB) but I'm happy to help anyone who's having trouble on Vista or XP. I got a Vista laptop in June 2007, so about two or three years ago, and it has served me very well except for the occasional Not Responding program, or Registry error, but that's just life, I guess. I have also administrated a forum before, and am now a Home Page Manager/ HPM of an Animal Crossing Forum (Animal Crossing is a game available for the Gamecube, DS and Wii)

hello ladies and guys im new here. i got stuck using vista when i bought this new laptop i just got. so far vista is a complete nightmare and i hate it with a passion. i have been a xp user sense the day it came out and refused to switch until i didnt have a choice in the matter. i look to this site to try and change my mind about vista. all i have figured out so far is that everything that takes no time to accomplish on xp takes a act of congress to get done on vista. i understand trying to idiot proof software but making it to where it treats you like a 5 year old that gets old quick. well you will be seeing me im sure
