this is a laptop that provided by working company. previously this laptop is working fine. since yesterday, while i was using windows virtual PC, meanwhile i also browsing some online newspaper. suddenly, my laptop with windows vista, having the funny flashing at the taskbar. it flash almost 5 seconds once. the flashing image is showing the top row of my screen viewing. can anyone give me more information why and how i solve this problem?

before i write in this forum, i was trying to restore back the restore point, and restarted few times also unable to solve the problem. i confirmed while the problem occur, there are no any application update is running.

I've got a problem with my Vista (Home Premium)

I tried to log in in the morning and this problem occured - all of my desktop icons (same goes to wallpaper) vanished, my Windows taskbar won't open and I can only browse my computer through one explorer window that popped out during a log in (I can browse all the areas/hdd's of my pc)

I scanned my OS with AVG antivir but the problem still occurs.

It's been 8 months since I install the system (and i've got all the updates) and I never had a problem like this before.

What is it? Is it a virus or any other piece of malware? Or maybe some important file is missing from my Windows? I got no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 3 computers 1 with Vista home 1 with Vista Ulmate 1 with XP Pro. I have to accounts on each computer one Is the admin account and one Is a user account. On the Vista Computer I have a user account just to play games. I have this game that you have to play as admin. Alot of people play the game on the computer. I know I can use run as to run as admin. I wnt to know Is there a way I can just save the admin password In that one game so I don't have to give everyone who plays the game the admin password? I don't want everyone to have my admin password. I just want to give them admin premission for that one game.

network name changes on its' own

I have an internet connection through my local cable company. I only use a public wireless connection when I travel each week and stay at a hotel. Usually my home network name is Network 4 at home. I don't think I named it that when I got thid HP computer 1 year ago.....but that has always been the name of the network. Every couple of days when I logon on at home (I don't use wireless at home) my Network connection changes. Some days it will be Network 4....sometimes Network 2.....sometimes just Network. I am not a computer whiz but was just wondering why or if I am being hacked or watched. Usually I go to merge/delete Network connections and stick with Network 4. Today network 4 is not there. Am I just being paranoid? Is the cable company (Knology) changing the name. Anyway, just looking to protect myself. I have current version of Norton installed. I always keep Network 4 as a pulic location when online at the house. Why does the Network name change each week when I get back home? Any answers or advice to protect my connection are appreciated. Im looking into using the windows desktop manager to capture the image displayed on a certain window.

Currently Im brining the window in question to the top of the screen before taking a standard screenshot- This is inconvenient since I want a shot taken every minute, and i dont really need/want the window at the top all the time anyway.

Im only used to programming in Matlab so I have some questions which may seem stupid, nonetheless answers to these would help me a lot:

1. Is there a fee to get hold of the Windows Desktop Manager API for Vista?

2. What language is the API written in?

3. Is it possible to capture an image of a hidden window?

4. Can I get a list of the actice windows on my machine, in order to locate my target window?

When I use VMC on my 2nd monitor and maximize it the mouse stays on #2 and i can't move it back to #1. Is there a way i can get my mouse back to #1? With other programs I can go back to #1 while maximized.

Can you play a screen saver on #2 and work on #1 or vice-versa?

Here's the problem, on the 1st tuner I have my office's security camera system input via RCA jacks so i can see everything on my 2nd monitor using WMC live TV. The video is choppy and my computer will hesitate like every 30-45 seconds. Mouse, music, typing i mean everything will stop or stutter. Video continues playing normally but still choppy. This only happens when using this input. I can play HD TV using the other card and this doesn't happen dvd, pictures, streaming video basically anything else in WMC and there is no problem. I tried using other programs to view the video but all of them say that the tuner card is in use and can't play the video. This input did play the other day smoothly and my system did not hesitate during playback but i don't know how it happened. all the same programs are running today as they were when it worked correctly. I think it's something with the tuner since on the day it did work correctly i took these steps...disabled the card, restarted, enabled the card, restarted and all worked fine but that process has not worked since. please help, i don't mind using another program instead of WMC if i can get them to see use the card.

XP computers can't connect to vista computer

Hey Guy's

I am new here, I may have posted in the wrong place.

My problem is, I just bought a new PC with Vist

Home Premium. I have 4 other PC's running XP

on my network. I don't run all them at one time,

normaly just the 2 in the house.

The Vista PC can connect to any of the others, can

send and pull files from them. The XP Pc's can find

the Vista pc but will not connect to it. I get an error

that say's that I don't have permission to access the PC.

The Vista pc has 2 hard drives, a 320g for the OS and programs

and a 500g for file backup ( pics music and the like).

I have gone over the sharing setting for drive D: many times,

have even looked at the firewall settings.

The only thing I can access from the Xp PC's is the public

folder on drive c: of the Vista PC.

Have gone over the help pages till blue in the face.

My computer came installed with vista on one partition and the users and other things on another. I recently had to restore my system and now I cannot log into my account, it just takes me to the system account, even though all of the files are still there unchanged.
