As an update, i had got my flash drive replaced from Kingston for the same model/size. After trying it out, it had copied most of the files with a problem, however i tried to copy one file which gave me the same error several times. I am sure it is not the Flash Drives issue, but still not sure how Computer/Vista may be causing it?

Any suggestion would be appreciated, Thanks

The notebook is:

Acer Extensa 5420-5687
AMD Turion 64 x 2 TL - 58
Has 4 USB ports which i [b]THINK [/b]are 2.0 but am not sure when i check device manager it has the fallowing (attached as image)

I don't believe that you posted your PC's specs anywhere. So, is the USB port you're using for the Kingston drive USB v1, v1.1, or v2? IF the port is not v2, it could be a power problem. I know that should NOT be the case with a thumb drive, but the only other option is a driver problem -- and if that was true, you couldn't copy smaller files.

Check to see which USB port version is on your machine.

I have applied Vista SP1...unfortunately it did not make a difference, as i still get the same error. I have also noticed the flash drive does not have such problem with other computers, which tells me it is not the flash drive, and as it is recognized by the computer and able to transfer some material below 100mb i dont think it is the computer or hardware component of it. Is there any other suggestion why i might be getting such an error.

I have attached an [u]attachment [/u]of the error message i get, the sequence of events how it occurs is:

First: Copy file from my documents/videos into flash drive
Second: It starts copying first giving me an estimate than slowly deducting time by 5 to 10 sec.
Third: After either couple of min. or sec. the green bar turns red and i get this error message

If i TRY AGAIN, this message keeps on repeating, IF i Skip the file is not copied, and If i Cancel the flash drive turns into a removable disk which i have to safely remove.

There is a history of file copying problems in Vista that Windows Updates have addressed, all of which were supposedly rolled up into SP 1. Have you applied SP 1 yet?

I have a 4gb Kingston Flash Drive, and when i try to copy some file which are large in size such as anything greater than 400 mb (movie) i get an error:

"Could Not Find This Item

This item is no longer located in (directory) Verify the Items locations and try again."[/b]

However i have verified that the file (movie) is there and works, however i have gotten this error after several attempts, i have tried reformatting the flash drive. Also i have changed the security settings for the that folder and have checked the Full Control icon, however i still get the same error.

I would also like to mention is when i copy something such as some pictures which are less than 100mb they do transfer fine. Also when i transfer something from my external hard drive to the flash drive such a Movie (does not matter the size) it also transfers, so there is something wrong with the settings on the computer, however i am unsure what it is.

Any help would be really appreciated.
