Hello,
I am assuming that you were saying your touchpad pointer is not
working, although I'm not sure what you mean by " the touchpointer tap
is no longer there ---"
It is possible the touchpad has been disabled by fluke. Try this :
Control Panel> Classic View > click Mouse icon ( I know, you said
touchpad. Don't worry) > you are now looking at the Mouse Properties
window, click the DELL Touchpad tab( if neccessary), click the Big
brownish arrowhead.( Someone once asked me " What big arrowhead?" ) See
screenshot below.

Click Device Select > click to enable Touchpad and Touch Buttons >
click APPLY, OK
Let me know if that helps.

Hello,
Ok, on your Mouse Properties window, do you have Hardware tap ? If yes,
click that, under Devices heading click Dell Touchpad, click properties.
What does the Device status say? You might have to update your driver.
Click Change settings, (prompt), click Dirver tap. You decide what to do
after that.

Oh....thanks for the tip. I finally realized what the problem was. The driver
wasnt installed. I had to reinstall the driver. Its working fine now. I didnt
realize once you reinstall Vista it deletes all the old drivers also (or
moves them to windows.old).

Thanks again.
