It works fine. It came with my new Sony and I didn't have any problems. I
know companies put this stuff on to get you to buy it but a company like
Sony wouldn't put something on that was incompatible. A lot of people put
different virus/firewalls on when the trial runs out and this is when they
have problems. It's only recently that zone alarm has a Vista compatible
version (it works) because previously ZA wouldn't even install. The same
with Avast which I use now. I didn't like AVG it seemed to slow everything
down.

It slows down any version of Windows and eventually messes up the email
program. Based on more than 10 years helping in these newsgroups.

I do computer repair (yes, even OEM warranty for several major OEMs).
Even though they have NIS factory installed, many times they recommend
uninstalling it as part of troubleshooting.
I have seen so many machines messed up by Norton/Symantec products that I
won't allow it near any machine on my LAN.
I use AVG on a dozen machines and it doesn't slow things down anywhere as
much as Norton did.
I use Avast on another dozen and Clamwin on even more.
All are free and cause less problems than Norton.
Why anyone feels the need for third party firewalls is beyond me.
IMHO they are just a PITA to give you a false sense of security.
