Hi

I have Ultimate SP1.

There used to be a function where I could right click on a folder and select
"search"
this is no longer there, is there some way to get it back?

thanks

Daniel

What's wrong with using the search bar on the top right of the window?
That's one less click, right? Just click up there and start typing, it
looks for anything by that name in the subfolders from where you start.

The "Search" context menu, and the Search link (present in the =
right-hand side of the Start menu) is removed when you install Windows =
Vista Service Pack 1. Also, the Search context menu item is removed. =

Hello Daniel,
Another way to have the " search " option is MS /logo key + F key.

You can easly replace your sp1 version of "explorer.exe" file from the
windows directory with the original version used from a non - sp1 version of
vista and the search functionality will be completely restored to its
original state. No registry modification is needed.

Dave - this sounds exactly like what I want to do. But I only have one
Vista machine. Can I?:

1 - Use system restore to roll back to before SP1
2 - Copy explorer.exe to a flash drive
3 - Re-install SP1?

Or - can I have my buddy with Vista (sans SP1) email me the file?

I really miss that right-click search option. Why on earth did they
take it away?

Neither of Ramesh's links work for me.
