At http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343 , I found this:
UPEK Fingerprint Sensor with the Tcusb.sys driver file ? version
1.9.2.99 or earlier
ok, so .74 is earlier than .99 and both are too old to work with SP1
supposedly, so i go back to Device Manager and select Update Driver.
Stupid windows checks for a few moments and comes back with a message
that the driver is "Up to date".
Now what:??

Download the most recent drivers from here:
'Welcome To UPEK - Support - Downloads'
Once I installed these drivers on my system, Windows Update allowed me
to install SP1. (Although it took a couple of update checks before SP1
showed up.)

That is weird..I have Realtek Audio drivers and they work fine with SP1.

This did not work for me - which I why I was interested in David's post.
The current driver available here (build 111)still installs my old
version 1.9.2.77.

hmmm... i just checked device manager--it shows the proper version
here--1.9.2.111, which is good, as SP1 wants a driver greater than
1.9.2.99, IIRC.

i haven't gotten to installing SP1 yet. the issue i had was realtek
driver I had yesterday was out of date, preventing SP1 from being
offered via WU. Replacing that driver, UPEK, and Intel video got WU to
cooperate and allow SP1 to download.
