I had problems with Maxthon browser. I decided to re-install after removing Maxthon. Naturally I hit a major barrier. Frst I got this error message:

Error opening file for writing:
C:\Users\Charles Booker\AppData\Roaming\Maxton\Maxthon.exe

I tried to directly remove "Mathon" and Maxthon.exe" from the AppData sub folder. Vista Home Premium  prevented it even though I was Administrator. I used Regedit to remove all Maxthon associated entrys. Still got the error message when I tried to reinstall. I even tried to install Maxthon under a newly created user - still got the same message. I tried changing permissions, access denied by Vista. I tried to claim owner - Vista denied permission.

Needless to say this is frustrating and infuriating. Did I pay Microsoft for an OS which basically tells me to get lost?

Did you unhide the "real" Administrator account and use that. I'm guessing you did NOT. So, you were not the Administrator; you were just a general user with some admin rights.

Then complain to the Maxton folks -- it's their app that won't cooperate.

And next time, try reading the forum titles and posting in the correct forum. This forum is for downloading Vista-related products -- not for technical questions.
